ONC Accredit First Cert Bodies and Testing Labs

The Office of the national Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) announced that five EHR certification bodies and five testing labs have completed their first tests toward participating in the federal electronic health record (EHR) incentives program.

The five certification bodies received their nod from the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). The bodies are:

  • Certification Commission for Health InformationTechnology (CCHIT)
  • Drummond Group, Inc.
  • ICSA Laboratories, Inc.
  • InforGuard Laboratories, Inc.
  • Orion Register, Inc.

The groups can certify complete EHRs and EHR modules. “Accreditation by ANSI creates a valuable distinction for these five certification bodies,” said Lane Hallenbeck, ANSI vice president of accreditation services. “The ONC program helps to instill confidence in EHR technology among health IT developers, health professionals and hospitals, and the general public.”

The five laboratory testing certification groups accredited by the Voluntary Laboratory Accreditation Program are:

  • CCHIT
  • Drummond Group, Inc.
  • ICSA Laboratories, Inc.
  • InfoGuard Laboratories, Inc.
  • SLI Global Solutions
